Construction history, Engineering bloodline
Skanewest traces its roots to Skane Sales & Service Inc. Skane Sales & Service was owned and operated by Carl E. Iwertz, Jr., the son of a Swedish immigrant from Gothenburg, Sweden inside the county of Skane. Carl E. Iwertz, Jr was a United States Army First Lieutenant in the Corp of Engineers and served in the Korean Conflict. He founded Skane Sales & Service to continue the legacy of building. His father, Carl E. Iwertz, Sr, found work as a carpenter when he immigrated to the United States. Skane Sales & Service Inc. provided structural, civil, and mechanical engineering services to local residents of Fairfield County, Connecticut.
